Help in Chemistry.. What are the common names and purpose for these chemicals?
I only know a few of those but I will tell you the ones I know of.

Sodium stearate is the major component of soap. Its called sodium octadecanoate by the iupac

tetrachloromethane is also called carbon tetrachloride it used to be used for frog discections (of alive frogs, when my mom was in school) and as a non polar solvent. But its not used any more because its a carcinogen.

Ethanoic acid is the major component of vinegar and its dissolved in water

Glucose is a sugar that is used in the body

Ethyne is also called acetylene commonly. Its used for welding because it. releases a lot of energy when oxidised (burned) because the carbons have a triple bond.

Benzene used to be as a non polar solvent (when my mom was in school) but they found of its harmful effects and stopped its use in labs.

Toulene is also used as a solvent for paints and stuff.

sorry thats all I know Read about the ones you don't know on wikipedia. It can help you a lot
Reply:Search each of these in google, or wikipedia very quickly. You find the answers soon! Put some more effort into this and if you really want to know them, then you'll surely be able to do it.

You SHOULD no about glucose by now? Im probz years younger than you and I KNOW THAT ONE!!!
Reply:Sorry. You gotta look 'em up or you won't learn. I went to school already. I'm not doing your homework. That's your job.
