What is the common name of something you use to revive people who have fainted?

Smelling salts (ammonium carbonate)

basically it's a really stinky ammonia smell that's released when you break this little cloth-covered ampule.

Reply:Smelling Salts- Ammonian Carbonate. Actually had it done once-when I fainted-I fainted in the hospital after seeing my son in the intensive care unit-he was in a coma but his eyes were open. I actually took one look and was on the floor - the nurses revived me with the above. By the way, when I came to-they had cotton balls over my sons eyes. Sad but true.
Reply:vinegar (the person who fainted has to smell it)
