Common names in Japanese?

What are some really common Japanese names? Is Sakura one, because I've heard it was?

My other question (sorry): I'm learning Japanese and I tend to translate the Japanese word into English in my head. I want to prevent that, does anyone know how I can do that?

Common names in Japanese?
愛子 (AI-KO) - Feminine. Literally 'love child'.

明 (AKIRA) - Masculine. Literally 'bright' or 'clear'.

歩夢 (AYU-MU) - Masculine. Literally 'walking dream'.

大輔 (DAI-SUKE) - Masculine. Literally 'big help'.

花子 (HANA-KO) - Feminine. Literally 'flower child'.

光 (HIKARU) - Masculine. Literally 'shining' or 'radiance'

久美子 (KU-MI-KO) - Feminine. Literally 'long time beautiful child'

誠 (MAKOTO) - Masculine. Literally 'sincerity'.

恵 (MEGUMI) - Femine. Literally 'blessing'.

緑 (MIDORI) - Feminine. Literally 'green'.

実 (MINORU) - Masculine. Literally 'truth'.

美月(MI-ZUKI) - Feminine. Literally 'beautiful moon'.

夏美 (NATSU-MI) - Feminine. Literally 'summer beautiful'.

空 (SORA) - Masculine. Literally 'sky' or 'air'.

進 (SUSUMU) - Masculine. Literally 'advance' or proceed'.

鈴 (SUZU) - Feminine. Literally 'bell'.

That's just off the top of my head. The Japanese language, like any language, has thousands upon thousands of names to choose from. The name 'Sakura' is indeed a common Japanese name. It is a girls' name that literally means 'cherry blossom', but unlike the names above, it is usually written in hiragana: さくら.

My personal favourite is:

日渡 (HI-WATARI) - Passage of the sun.
Reply:Yes Sakura is in the 5 most popular japanese girl names.

Think in Japanese, it's easier. When I was learning English, it was harder to translate Spanish into English than just thinking in English. I really don't have a way to do it, but I just think in the language I'm trying to speak.

BTW, I'm trying to learn Japanese too! =D
Reply:Sakura is and can be a common Japanese name but there are so many others.

It's because Japan is limited to their alphabet so there are bound to be many common names in Japanese.
Reply:yoshi's popular
