Explain one advantage to scientific naming over common names??

Scientific names don't change. They are standard and recognizable from one country to the next. Common names DO change. Walk around an English garden, or a French garden, or a German garden, or an American garden, and point to various plants. You'll get four different common names, but there will be only one scientific name for each of themm.

easy to remember and possibly internationally recognised? I know I find it easier to name chemicals using the scientific names rather than when they are named after the people who discovered them!
