How do you counteract a common name?

My husband and have a few names we really like, but they are pretty common names, so is there a more uncommon (but not outrageous) middle name that you can think of for these names...

How do you counteract a common name?
Aubrey would be an uncommon middle name for a boy. My sister's middle name is Carlyn, that's pretty uncommon.
